2019 Hall of Fame Biographies

William Martin

Judge William Martin began his career as the Assistant District Attorney for Indiana County from 1980 to 1984. He joined the Indiana law firm Miller, Miller & Martin Law Firm in 1983. He worked at the firm for eight years while also serving as Indiana County’s District Attorney. In 1991 he was elected judge to the Court of Common Pleas. In 1999 he became President Judge and was later awarded the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judges Award in 2015. One of Martin’s many great contributions to Indiana is the creation of Drug Court. He is a member of numerous associations including the American Bar Association, PA Bar Association, and the PA Trial Association. In addition to his law career, Martin volunteered for over 20 years as an Indiana High School football coach. Judge Martin continues to bring justice to the Indiana community and make our town a better place.

Pamela Patton

Dr. Pamela Patton earned degrees in art history from Tufts University, Williams College, and Boston University. She is an art historian who studies and teaches courses about the art of medieval Spain. For over two decades, she taught at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned a President’s Associates Outstanding Faculty Award, a Godbey Author’s Award, and nomination for the HOPE Professor of the Year Award. In 2015 she became director of the Index of Medieval Art at Princeton University, where she also continues to mentor students and emerging scholars. She has published two monographs, two edited volumes, and numerous articles in her field of study; she also co-edits the Princeton-hosted journal Studies in Iconography. In 2018, she was one of six US scholars invited by the Duques de Soria Foundation and his Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain to represent their country at the “Homenaje al Hispanismo Internacional” in Madrid. Throughout her life, Dr. Patton has been a strong advocate for women and underrepresented communities and serves as a great role model for many.

Deborah Powell

Deborah Powell has dedicated her life to serving her community and country. Powell attended the U.S. Naval Academy where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in General Science, and later served in a leadership capacity in the Navy on several combatant ships. She has spoken publicly on numerous occasions about her active duty experiences on-board the USS COLE (DDG-67), when it was bombed in a terrorist attack in Yemen in 2000. She retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves in 2012.  Previously, Powell was the Plant Manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority’s 425 megawatt (MW) Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant. In 2010, Powell joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and has held leadership positions within the Power Generation and Electric Operations areas of business. Powell is currently PG&E’s Vice President of Power Generation. In this role, she is responsible for the safe, reliable, efficient operation and licensing of the Utility’s 5,400 MW portfolio, consisting of Hydro, Fossil, and Renewable generating units. Debbie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Steven, and 4 children, Travis, Tyler, Allie, and Eva.

Stanford Webb

Stanford Webb has made tremendous contributions to his community and field of work since attending IHS. Mr. Webb began his career in law enforcement at IUP, before being appointed to the Butler barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police. Mr. Webb then served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 25 years, where he dedicated his work to being a protector of victims and enforcer of laws. He serves as a security officer at Indiana Senior High School, where he is a role model and mentor to students. He resolves conflicts quickly and de-escalates any situation that may arise, keeping the students of IHS safe. Outside of protecting students and the community from harm, Mr. Webb serves as the assistant Pastor for Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, and was ordained as an Elder in the Church in 2004. He also volunteers as a youth basketball coach. Overall, Stanford Webb has dedicated his life to putting the needs of others before himself, and serving his community.

Edward Parks                                  

Edward Parks is a GRAMMY-award winning opera singer that has performed in a variety of esteemed concert halls and opera houses, most notably at the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall. Parks graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor’s degree in Music, and then received a Master’s Degree in Music from Yale University. Parks went on to win many awards and competitions, most impressively being the 2008 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and Placido Domingo’s 2015 Operalia Competition. Parks titled the role of Steve Jobs in the biography-opera The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs with the Santa Fe Opera, which earned him the GRAMMY for “Best Opera Recording,” during the 61st Annual Ceremony in 2019. Parks uses his immense talent to give back to his community at home by giving free community concerts. Parks serves as a symbol that through humility, dedication, and a great amount of hard work to your craft, one can achieve their dreams, even at a young age.
